Taking stock of the gas and dust for planet-building

Abstract
Planet formation works with the limited supply of dust and gas in disks, and as such they are key inputs and quality metrics for planet formation and disk evolution models. They are also critical to understanding the chemical evolution of protoplanetary material and thus the composition of planets. Measuring the disk-integrated or radially resolved mass of the gas and dust is a long-running challenge in disk studies, especially for the gas. I will highlight key past results and some ongoing work leading to increasingly robust measurements of these quantities, and provide an outlook for the future.
