Abstract
In the middle of the 1880s, the Northern parts of the Indochinese Peninsula became the theatre of a double colonial conquest â of the French in Annam-Tonkin and of the British in Upper Burma. Based on a book published in September 2018, the talk will offer a history of imperial margins in Southeast Asia while comparing the British and French geographical policies and practices.
