Abstract
Skills: Generic Programming in C++, Tom Craig
Using generic programming, we can write code that is type-agnostic whilst remaining type-safe. In this talk I’ll introduce the major concepts and outline some scenarios where generic programming leads to particularly efficient, safe, readable code. I’ll concentrate primarily on C++ and its template facilities.

As we know, the MATLAB is a powerful numerical computing environment and programming language. Created by the MathWorks, MATLAB allows easy matrix manipulation, plotting of functions and data, implementation of algorithms, creation of user interfaces, and interfacing with programs in other languages. In this skill talk, the functionality of communicating with instruments by applying MATLAB built-in Instrument Control Toolbox is going to be explained. This brief introduction will equip you with some practical techniques to effectively generate data in MATLAB to send out to an instrument (e.g., function generator, oscilloscope), or read data into MATLAB for analysis and visualization by using the Instrument Control Toolbox.
