Abstract
I will give a broad overview of the theory of general relativity, more precisely, the study of Ricci-flat Lorentzian 4-manifolds. After introducing the dynamical formulation of general relativity, I will discuss the Schwarzschild and Kerr families as explicit examples of so-called black hole solutions. Then, I will present results and conjectures concerning the stability of the exterior region of black holes and end the talk with a discussion about the structure of the interior of black hole spacetimes.
