Abstract
Having surgery always presents a risk of infection. Current sterilization processes fail to treat many innovative medical devices for minimally-invasive surgery like flexible scopes. Of every 100 hospitalized patients, 7 will acquire at least one nosocomial infection. The innovative device developed by SteriLux enables sterilization of any type of medical device in a safe, ecological and cost-effective way. The environmentally friendly process carried out at room temperature and atmospheric pressure, also contributes to the reduction of hospital waste by facilitating the reuse of medical devices that could not be sterilized until now.
