A Liquid Helium Waveguided Terahertz and Optical Microphotoluminescence Setup

Abstract
Combining terahertz and optics at cryogenic temperatures allows to explore a variety of different physical effects, such as e.g. photon assisted tunneling in self-assembled quantum dots. However, conducting such experiments requires a suitable setup.
In this talk, I will show a new setup, that allows to simultaneously perform conventional microphotoluminescence spectroscopy and excite the electrically contacted sample at liquid helium temperature with terahertz radiation using a waveguided delivery system. I will demonstrate the results of performance measurements and characterisation of the system, highlight options for focussing terahertz radiation on the sample, and comment on possible opportunities for experiments with the system.
