Abstract
Ptychography is a computational imaging method that, like holography, solves the phase problem. However, it has distinct advantages over holography and other phase retrieval methods. The apparatus does not need accurate calibration, the data is significantly immune to partial coherence effects, and three-dimensional effects can be removed from the image data. It works over all wavelengths (Terahertz, IR, visible light, EUV , soft and hard X-rays, and for high-energy electrons), and is therefore making significant inroads into the characterisation of materials at many length scales.
