Abstract
The seminars are open to all, and research students at CEB and MedImmune are especially invited to attend. The talks will be about 30-45 minutes long, and questions are encouraged which open up new avenues for discussion. Tea and biscuits will be provided.
When faced with the thorny question “What do you do?” many of us will have flailed around for a definition of our university degree, or regurgitated a pithy and well-crafted statement about what our research project, at an introductory level, involves. It is almost certain that such a statement will refer to ‘technology.’ But what is technology? The famous German philosopher, Martin Heidegger, took on this question in his famous essay on “The Question Concerning Technology.” His answer turns out to be much more useful than you might expect, and I’ll introduce some of his key findings.
