Abstract

Fifty years after humans first set foot on the Moon, writer and filmmaker Dr Christopher Riley looks back at the herculean effort it took to pull off the Apollo program and the discoveries of the less celebrated robotic missions that followed. Today we stand on the brink of a second Moon race, inspired by the discoveries of the first, as private spaceflight companies and new spacefaring countries like India and China take the next giant leap for humankind. 

The talk will be followed by refreshments outside the lecture theatre.

The talk will be at the usual location of Wolfson lecture theatre in the Department of Chemistry.
