Not Yet Finding Third Generation Supersymmetry

Abstract
Searches for SUSY at the LHC have yet to reveal any significant deviations from the Standard Model. In this talk, instead of being made depressed by thousands of exclusion limits on simplified models, you will be shown a couple of new ATLAS Third Generation SUSY results obtained with the 2015-2018 pp collision dataset. (Spoiler: these do not have have significant excesses either). You will obtain a greater insight into how searches for SUSY are performed at the LHC ; from the full motivation of these specific searches to the analysis of their now publicly available likelihoods. It is clear that if SUSY , or any other BSM theory, is to be discovered at the LHC , it will be much harder than the discovery of the Higgs. Hopefully this talk will give you some optimism that BSM could be hiding in not-so-plain sight at the TeV scale.
