Documenting Endangered Languages: Experiences in Indonesia

Abstract
The talk will be about endangered languages and language conservation, concentrating on documentation projects that Professor Dalrymple has been involved with for 3 languages of Indonesia, including one project on Enggano Island which has recently been funded by the Arts & Humanities Research Council. In terms of the linguistic analysis, it will not be too detailed, though some more technical linguistic content will also be presented. The talk intends to be very accesible to general audience.
The talk will take place at the Winstanley Lecture Theatre at 18:15 with free refreshments aviailable from 18:00. The event is free and open for all!
