Psychologists are not using large, existing, free data to its potential. We don’t know what exists, what it contains, or how to use it without a huge investment. Also, students often feel pressure to find results in projects that can’t answer their hypotheses due to low N. After a workshop at the SIPS2019 conference, we published an open list of free, large datasets across all of psychological science with descriptive metadata: N=115 bit.ly/2FifRWp doi:10.17605/OSF.IO/TH8EW. I will argue why this is needed, examples of how to use it for classroom teaching and supervision, and present an example of a research program in environmental psychology that incorporated open data from the list (focusing on personality, identity, and pro-environmental behavior).
