Abstract
A major challenge is to develop machine learning algorithms that can learn complex information, something animals do easily. To address this, we measured the activity of neurons and dendrites while rats learned a complex navigation task in virtual reality, and during the subsequent period of sleep. The results point to novel neural algorithms underlying learning complex information. Some of the background information can be found in my TEDx talk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4Ey8JzTDBo
