Searches for lepton flavour violation in B decays with the LHCb experiment

Abstract
In the Standard Model (SM), decays that donβt conserve lepton family number, for example B->eΒ΅, are forbidden, however, many extensions of the SM predict sizeable lepton flavour violation (LFV). Hence, the discovery of LFV would be an unambiguous sign of new physics. Another cornerstone prediction of the SM is that the different lepton families couple universally to the gauge bosons. Interest in LFV searches has been renewed recently due to a series of tensions in tests of lepton flavour universality (LFU). In general, if LFU is violated, LFV is expected too. Recent searches for LFV in B decays at LHCb will be presented.
