In the passage from Renaissance to Modernism and the current period architecture has served humanistic priorities, however the techniques that have been employed to produce it and consequently the ways such priorities have been met are manifestations of the technological innovations that characterise each time. Further to this observation, in view of the global environmental and socio-urban challenges our planet is faced with, the pair nature/technology offers a new paradigm for the discipline’s future. In their crossing, alternative visions may emerge as strategies and modes of co-habitation often of no prior historical reference.
