Abstract

gloknos ‘cum panis’ seminar series – Sebastian Haug (University of Cambridge)

In this session, Sebastian will share part of his PhD research on North/South dynamics in international development politics. Based on an in-depth study of Mexico and Turkey as actors and spaces at odds with the evolving but sticky division between ‘North’ and ‘South’, Sebastian builds on insights from liminality research, queer studies and the spatial turn in the social sciences to develop the Thirding Lens: a heuristic to approach and make sense of phenomena that do not fit with dominant binaries.
