Abstract
The High-Luminosity LHC is due to switch on in 2027, and promises around a factor of 10 increase in the integrated luminosity allowing measurements and potentially observations of rare processes such as di-Higgs production. In order to cope with the increased interaction rate and radiation the CMS experiment is upgrading its end-cap calorimeters with a new High-Granularity Calorimeter (HGCal). I will describe the geometry and composition of the new detector, how particles are reconstructed within it and also how HGCal contributes to the overall CMS level-1 trigger.
