Wave-structure interactions: new observations and industrial applications
- đ¤ Speaker: Dr. Wenhua ZHAO, University of Western Australia
- đ Date & Time: Tuesday 11 February 2020, 14:00 - 15:00
- đ Venue: CivEng Seminar Room (1-33) (Civil Engineering Building)
Abstract
Offshore structures, from conventional oil & gas platforms to offshore renewable energy devices, are subjected to loads from ocean waves. Both ocean waves and wave-structure interactions show strong nonlinearity. This talk will discuss some interesting observations in wave-structure interactions, i.e. from linear to quartic nonlinearities. Cutting-edge sciences in wave-structure interactions are identified through international collaborations. This talk will show how these studies have been adopted by offshore industry and impacting engineering practice.
Series This talk is part of the Engineering Department Geotechnical Research Seminars series.
