Input-Output Controllability Analysis and Control Structure Selection
- ๐ค Speaker: Professor Morten Hovd (Deparment of Engineering Cybernetics, Norwegian University of Science and Technology)
- ๐ Date & Time: Friday 31 October 2008, 14:00 - 15:00
- ๐ Venue: Cambridge University Engineering Department, Lecture Room 3B
Abstract
For the typical chemical plant, many decisions with strong effect on achievable control performance are typically made before the actual controller(s) are designed. This talk will start by briefly describing the control hierarchy in chemical plants, and an approach to designing this hierarchy. Next, controller-independent tools for analysing achievable control quality will be described. Finally, control structure selection for the regulatory control layer (and, yes, it is important) will be addressed.
Series This talk is part of the CUED Control Group Seminars series.
