In this talk, I will review the construction of O(N) vector models above four dimensions, and explain why one might think that, in five dimensions, there should exist O(N)-invariant CFTs at sufficiently large N. However, a closer look at these constructions reveals that the CFTs are non-unitary because instanton effects lead to small imaginary parts of scaling dimensions and OPE coefficients.
