Abstract
Lucy Crane is a senior geologist at Cornish Lithium, an innovative mineral exploration company exploring for lithium and other battery metals in Cornwall. Lithium is a key component of lithium ion batteries, and will play a crucial role in the energy transition as we move away from fossil fuels and towards renewable energy and electric vehicles. Itโs important that the raw materials this energy transition requires are extracted as responsibly as possible โ which is what Cornish Lithium are aiming to do. Their main focus is on lithium-enriched geothermal waters, and they are investigating the opportunity to use the geothermal energy also contained within the waters to produce net-zero carbon lithium. In this talk Lucy will describe the companyโs approach to lithium exploration, and results from recent drilling programmes.
