Lucy Crane is a senior geologist at Cornish Lithium, an innovative mineral exploration company exploring for lithium and other battery metals in Cornwall. Lithium is a key component of lithium ion batteries, and will play a crucial role in the energy transition as we move away from fossil fuels and towards renewable energy and electric vehicles. Itโ€™s important that the raw materials this energy transition requires are extracted as responsibly as possible โ€“ which is what Cornish Lithium are aiming to do. Their main focus is on lithium-enriched geothermal waters, and they are investigating the opportunity to use the geothermal energy also contained within the waters to produce net-zero carbon lithium. In this talk Lucy will describe the companyโ€™s approach to lithium exploration, and results from recent drilling programmes.
