Asymptotics of a Particle-Free Layer in a Sheared Suspension

In a sheared suspension of particles near a plane wall and an inlet flow, a particle-free layer is observed experimentally. Examining the small time asymptotics of this layer, an interesting structure is found with many boundary layers both near the wall and the inlet flow. We will first solve the simpler problems of an infinite wall and steady flow using matched asymptotic expansions, before adapting the solutions and methods used to approach the full problem.
