Abstract
Augmented Reality and Mixed Reality is the new trend in many different aspects, including but not limited to education, gaming, and commerce. One of the major problems to tackle in realizing portable AR/MR devices is to create a map of landmarks around the device efficiently, formally addressed as the SLAM problem. In the presentation, I will first introduce what AR and SLAM are, then we will focus on how to construct a map around an agent, which is a key idea of SLAM , using the example algorithm FAST , BRIEF, and an enhanced combination ORB .
