Abstract
Air pollution is a major problem worldwide. The MAGIC (Managing Air for Greener Inner Cities) project conducted a two-week field study in London including 30 sensors, 10 Raspberry Pi cameras and several weather monitoring instruments to understand the effect traffic light signal time changes can have on air pollution measured at a junction in South London.
Apart from analysing the sensor data, MAGIC is also trying to model the vehicle emissions and their dispersion observed during the study using Computer Vision to extract vehicle trajectories from the camera footages and Fluidity, a computational fluid dynamics model, to understand the dispersion of the modelled tailpipe emissions.
In this talk I will give an overview of the field study, provide an introduction to the modelling done and present some initial results.
