Abstract
An accurate measurement of the top mass and of the kinematic distributions of EW gauge bosons is a crucial part of the LHC physics program. The former is affected by non-perturbative corrections, also known as renormalons. Their impact is of the order of a typical hadronic scale $\Lambda$. If such corrections would be present also in the transverse-momentum distribution of the $Z$ boson, they would be comparable to the current theoretical uncertainty and potentially larger than the experimental one. In this talk I present a method that can be used to infer the presence of such renormalon corrections. We apply it to the case of single-top production to assess whether the mass renormalon propagates on top-mass dependent observables. We also investigate $Z$+jet production at hadron colliders, finding no numerical evidence of linear power corrections.
