Abstract
Distributed Virtual Environments (DVE’s) are distributed 3D simulations. Popular examples include online games such as World of Warcraft and Quake. Most DVE ’s are implemented as a client-server application, with minimal simulation state transition determined at the clients. This is great for security, but limits scalability. Migrating simulation work from the server to clients introduces major security considerations. This talk briefly describes the DVE domain and security concerns involved in migrating simulation work to clients. I’ll briefly describe the approach we’re investigating for mitigating some of these security concerns.
