Abstract
Recent years have seen the increased adoption of containers as a deployment format and Kubernetes to orchestrate them in datacenter environments. From this growth, Kubernetes has proven to be a reliable orchestration platform for workloads but has seen much less adoption at the edge. Edge environments have more constrained resources and different expectations for the applications running there. Due to this, my work aims to target decentralising the datastore component and looking into moving control-plane components onto all worker nodes in order to leverage this change of datastore architecture.
Bio:
Andrew is a first year PhD student under Mort’s supervision. He obtained his BA in Computer Science from the Computer Lab before working in industry for a year, managing production Kubernetes clusters while also helping to build a new private cloud.
