Abstract
Tandem repeat rich centromeres were always difficult to assemble and therefore information we have on their structure is scarce. The emergence of new long read sequencing data gives us a chance to investigate these regions, but we lack comprehensive tools to identify and characterise them. In this talk I will present my efforts in de novo identification of Arabidopsis thaliana repeats from a new ungapped assembly together with analysis of its higher order structure and compare it to recently released human centromeric assembly. Extending the analysis to other species might give us insight into the centromere formation and evolution.
