Abstract
A popular phrase in statistics says that “all models are wrong”, because statistical or scientific models often simplify reality and do not capture the full complexity of an observed phenomenon. In this talk, I will discuss how we can improve models by quantifying this lack of complexity through the introduction of random terms. I will present recent results on a classical biophysical model for cell repolarisation, where the additional random terms lead to biologically relevant effects, and explain how such a model can be validated on real data.
