Abstract
In two current projects we are attempting to integrate the archaeological study of crop remains directly with genetic analyses of those crop taxa to elucidate the pathways along which agriculture was carried across Europe and Asia. I shall be contrasting our work on a relatively major crop today, barley, and a minor crop, broomcorn millet, each of which offers different challenges and different perspectives on the study of Neolithic agriculture.
