Abstract
Anomalous behaviour in the susceptibility and heat capacity of the first order ferromagnetic phase transition has been observed in several heavy fermion materials. Here we propose that this can be understood in terms of the formation of a spin spiral phase. We present analytical and computational evidence to support this hypothesis.
