Abstract
A crisis situation—whether emerging from war, revolution, or violent conflict—elicits the problem of addressing urban heritage as part of recovery and reconciliation, leading to the broader question of who has the legitimacy to make such decisions. Given that heritage is a value-laden term that attracts stakeholders with different agendas, this decision-making process is contentious. This seminar will explore the concept of heritage as a value in three geographical contexts: Lebanon, Syria and Tunisia.
