Our intention is to deliver all Seminars in person, we will follow University Covid Guidance on this. Seminars are aimed mainly at MPhil CompBio students, but are open to anyone who wishes to attend by pre-booking with the Administrator.

Within Computational Oncology at AstraZeneca our portfolio bioinformaticians discover new biomarkers of sensitivity and resistance for each new medicine, our data scientists advance our technological toolkit using the latest in ML/AI, and our computational biologists study the diseases we treat to identify new targets, new patient populations etc. In my talk I will cover some of our recent work across these three areas including the use of knowledge graphs to identify mechanisms of resistance to EGFR inhibitors (Gogleva et al. BioArxiv. 2021), network biology to create a patient selection marker for our A2AR inhibitor (Sidders et al. Clin. Can. Res. 2020) and the ‘clinical transformer’ – a recasting of the widely used transformer architecture as a method to model relations between molecular & clinical measurements and the survival of cancer patients.
