Who were our ancestors and our distant relatives? In this talk, we will explore the story and mechanisms of human evolution and tentatively address the question of โ€œwhat makes us humansโ€. We will meet the oldest members of our family and examine the earliest evidence of the genus Homo and the implications of the co-existence of our ancestors with another hominin genus, Paranthropus. We will finally explore fossil human diversity and see how the new technologies (DNA, imaging techniques) refine our knowledge of extinct human species.
