Abstract
We introduce mean field limits of interacting particles, and prove Dobrushin’s ‘79 result on convergence to a limiting PDE for Lipschitz interaction forces. We explain connections with molecular chaos. We outline the current state of the art of mean field limits for singular forces, especially systems of 2D vortices and of charged particles. We explain how large deviation principles allow us to obtain mean field limits for 2D vortex systems.
