The non-uniform spread of COVID -19 cases and vaccinations across the UK necessitates a consideration for spatial factors in modelling the pandemic. We use a stochastic metapopulation model for the Lower Tier Local Authorities (LTLAs) of England to assess the impact of spatial heterogeneity in infections and the spread of variants. We aim to apply this model to several questions such as how vaccinations should be distributed amongst LTL As. In the context of the delta variant, we demonstrate conditions when it may be beneficial to reallocate vaccines to areas affected by high prevalence, or experiencing a surge in cases of the new variant.
