Anomalous emission-line behaviour: evidence for disc winds?

Abstract
In 2014, the nearby Seyfert 1.5 galaxy NGC 5548 was the subject of the most intensive space and ground-based multiwavelength monitoring campaign ever undertaken. AGN STORM : the Active Galactic Nuclei Space Telescope and Optical Reverberation Mapping campaign, revealed a number of surprises, forcing us to reconsider much of what we thought we knew about the central regions of AGN . Chief among these was the unexpected appearance of anomalous emission-line behaviour starting midway through the campaign. Here, I review the work that led to the discovery of the anomaly, its likely origin, and implications for future models of the central regions of AGN .
