Abstract
I will discuss some recent work on a quantum analogue of the kinetic Landau equation, called the Landau-Fermi-Dirac (LFD) equation. The LFD equation models the behavior of a Fermionic gas with Coulomb potential interactions and is substantially better behaved than the classical Landau equation. In particular, LFD admits the existence of global-in-time smooth solutions. In addition, all solutions relax towards equilibrium. For solutions near equilibrium, the relaxation occurs at an explicit algebraic rate.
