We’re planning on hosting an interactive workshop on ‘An introduction to Machine Learning for Climate Science’. The event will run from 11am – 3pm on Wednesday 23rd March in the Mathematics department. There will be computers able to run the basic machine learning code . You can also bring your own machine if preferred. Lunch will be included! Numbers are limited so please sign up to attend and let us know if you cannot make it as we will have a waiting list.
The plan for the event is currently as follows: Morning session (11am – 12:30pm): Tutorial session on exploring climate datasets, and an introduction to machine learning and building simple neural networks.
Lunch provided from 12:30pm-1:30pm
Afternoon session (1:30pm – 3pm) `Hackathon’ style session with the opportunity to explore a typical problem in climate science using a recent dataset and some of the tools covered in the morning session. A template code will be provided to help you get started, and collaboration/discussion with others is highly encouraged!
Please let Sam (sl918@cam.ac.uk), Ira (is500@cam.ac.uk) or Sebastian (shmh4@cam.ac.uk) know if you have any questions about the event.
