Abstract
Direct Current (DC) Microgrids are an appealing solution for increasing penetration of renewable energy sources with DC output-type, e.g., photovoltaics and fuel cells, as well as energy storage systems. However, they suffer from low scalability as well as major uncertainties, due to increased volatility in the electricity supply and load changes. This uncertainty in the supply and demand of electricity highlights the importance of cooperative and plug-and-play control design for DC microgrids. This talk focuses on the hierarchical control of DC microgrids subject to uncertainties. A particular emphasis is on the development of distributed secondary control approaches based on consensus protocols for DC microgrids. The final part of the talk is devoted to cybersecurity and resilience challenges in microgridsโ control systems.
Series This talk is part of the CUED Control Group Seminars series.
