Dr Marta Magalhães is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Centre of Latin American Studies. She received her PhD in social anthropology from the University of Cambridge with a thesis on cosmopolitanism, violence and sovereignty in the city of Salvador, Brazil. Her research interests include political and legal anthropology, ethnographies of the state, social theory and political philosophy, violence, memory, psychoanalytic theory, the anthropology of cities and space
