Uncovering Extremely Metal-Poor Galaxies in the Era of JWST Studies

Abstract
To prepare for JWST /NIRSpec deeper observations, we have investigated chemical abundances and kinematics of local (z=0.01) extremely metal-poor galaxies (EMPGs) as analogs of high-z primordial galaxies. Our chemical enrichment models suggest that high Fe/O ratios of EMP Gs (approx. solar abundance) can be explained by supernovae originating from metal-poor massive stars (> 30 Msun). Our Subaru IFU observations also show that EMP Gs have rotational velocities (v_rot = 5-23 km s-1) lower than their velocity dispersions (Ī = 17-31 km s-1), which suggests that high-z primordial galaxies are also dispersion-dominated systems (i.e., v_rot/Ī < 1).
