Abstract
As we celebrate the International Year of Astronomy we see the impact computers have had on astronomy and education over the last decade. The WorldWide Internet has opened up opportunities to share data anywhere but the tools to do this are still in their infancy. Microsoft Research WorldWide Telescope’s goal is to take the friction out of sharing and visualizing astronomy data. With dedicated 3D visualization client, a rich cross-platform web based client and customizable tools that allow astronomers to create custom applications with ease, WWT allows the integration of multi-spectral images, catalogs and multimedia to enable research and education without sacrificing beauty and easy of use.
