Abstract
Abstract
With the UK and most of the world locked down around March 2020, suddenly video conferencing was used by a much wider audience and seems here to stay. From Handforth Parish Council to a lawyer saying, āIām not a cat,ā the world has since learned to embrace this technology at a before unprecedented scale.
We will look at the technology changes ā networks, processing power, and software ā over the last 15 years that made this possible, starting when the industry was largely confined to expensive meeting room solutions to today, where video is near-ubiquitous. And conclude with a look to the future: what can these past experiences tell us about what might come next?
