Abstract

Prof. Sarah-Jayne Blackmore is a Professor at the University of Cambridge and leader of the Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience group. Her experties lies in the development of social cognition and decision making in the adolescent brain, as well as mental health issues affecting adolescents.

Through this work she has been awarded many national and international prizes including the Young Mind & Brain Prize and the Royal Society Rosalind Franklin Award in 2013. In addition Prof. Blackmore is a Fellow of the British Academy (2018), the American Association of Psychological Science (2020), the Academy of Medical Sciences (2022), and a Honorary Fellow of St John’s College, Oxford.

Prof. Blackmore has also published two books: ‘The Learning brain: Lesson for Education’,which she co-wrote with Uta Firth; and a best seller, ‘Inventing Ourselves’, which explains the changes that the brain goes through during the adolescent years.
