The Organic Electronic Ion Pump (OEIP) is an electrochemical device that rely on electrophoretic transport along micro/nanometer thin membranes and provide the delivery of small sized charged compounds at high spatiotemporal resolution. The fundamental mechanism behind the OEIP operation will be presented along with device- and system aspects that impact critical performance parameters. The OEIP is a versatile device concept and it be shaped into various device configurations to enable an array of different applications ranging from OEIP tools for precise laboratory experiments, to suppression of neuropathic pain and combating cancer.
