- 📍 Venue: Seminar Room 2, Newton Institute
Abstract
The discussion will focus on a class of coupled systems of KdV/BBM type. First examined are the question of solitary-wave solutions. Derived are descriptions of such waves as well as criteria for their stability. Numerical simulations help fill in the overall picture, which can be quite different from single equations of KdV/BBM type. The lecture will conclude with a particular system that has some interesting mathematical implications for the KdV equation itself. This is joint work with H. Chen, O. Karakashian and F. Weissler
