Abstract
The most tangible success of the field of quantum information in theoretical physics is probably the introduction of a new mathematical framework for describing quantum correlations in terms of qubits and entanglement. In this talk I will give an overview of highlights of this research program, touching upon area laws for the entanglement entropy, quantum tensor networks, connections between topological field theory and quantum error correction, and the description of quantum matter exhibiting topological order.
There will be complementary tea and coffee served in the CMS cafeteria immediately after the talk.
