Melville Lecture 2023: “Topometric Design of Self-Assembled Biomimetic Composites”
- 👤 Speaker: Nicholas Kotov, University of Michigan 🔗 Website
- 📅 Date & Time: Thursday 18 May 2023, 14:00 - 15:00
- 📍 Venue: Dept of Chemistry, Wolfson Lecture Theatre
Abstract
The second lecture of the Melville Lectures 2023 will showcase that it is possible to transition from the inexact approaches of replicative good-luck-based engineering of biomimetic nanocomposites to their exact structural design using graph theory (GT). This talk will elaborate on the GT of a variety of nanoscructures, their macroscale properties and their optimization using topometric descriptors and the practical significant of these discoveries for the design of biomimetic structural Zn batteries and high-capacity Li batteries. The same methodology can be applied to other nanofiber-, nanoplatelets-, and nanoparticle-based materials.
Series This talk is part of the Chemistry Departmental-wide lectures series.
