Tissue-specific tuning of the protein production machinery
- 👤 Speaker: Katy Grobicki

- 📍 Venue: 1 Newnham Terrace, Darwin College
Abstract
Proteins are the workhorses of the cell, with almost all jobs in our bodies being performed by proteins. Protein production is carried out by a large molecular machine called the ribosome. During my PhD, I’ve been using the fruit fly ovary as a model system to explore how ribosomes can vary between tissues, how this influences protein production, and the downstream effects on cell fate and tissue development.
